The end of an era. The Portal Online System. 1986-1996. At approximately 8:05 pm, Pacific Time, on Tuesday, October 8, 1996, the plug was pulled, and one of the oldest Internet service providers in existence, (and the 2nd home of the AmigaZone, from '91 to '96), The Portal System, went off the air forever. Portal email and web page forwarding ended in December, 1996. This little graphic appeared everywhere when Apple's eWorld service was murdered on March 31, 1996 and I've modified the graphic (with apologies to the original artist) to reflect this sad occasion.
